Frequently Asked Questions

The AP World History exam is scored on a 1–5 scale. Your raw scores from each section are weighted: MCQ (40%), SAQ (20%), DBQ (25%), and LEQ (15%). These are combined into a composite score out of approximately 150, which is then converted to an AP score of 1–5 using a conversion chart.

Most colleges accept a score of 3 or higher for credit, though many selective institutions require a 4 or 5. Always check your target school's specific AP credit policy, as requirements vary widely.

Our calculator uses the official 2026 exam structure and historical College Board scoring guidelines. The estimated score is highly accurate but may differ slightly from your actual score due to annual curve adjustments the College Board applies after the exam.

The 2026 AP World History exam is approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes long. Section I (MCQ + SAQ) takes about 95 minutes, and Section II (DBQ + LEQ) takes about 100 minutes with a recommended reading period.
